Yoga poses help to stretch your muscles and increase your range of motion. With regular practice, you can improve your flexibility. With just a few classes per week, you can build muscle, sculpt your physique and begin to balance your body beyond the physical. Clarity, focus and hormonal changes can begin to occur for the betterment of your entire being.
I have been encouraged over the years each time I get injured from other activities such as hiking or surfing, my body really responds to the gentle, yet challenge yoga can provide to each of my muscle groups. Since every practice is individual to you it makes sense to utilize yoga while rehabbing your body. Of course, always check with your medical professional as some special circumstances could apply.
One of the best reasons to do yoga as we age is "each time you practice yoga, you take your joints through their full range of motion. This can help prevent degenerative arthritis or mitigate disability by "squeezing and soaking" areas of cartilage that normally aren't used. Joint cartilage is like a sponge; it receives fresh nutrients only when its fluid is squeezed out and a new supply can be soaked up. Without proper sustenance, neglected areas of cartilage can eventually wear out, exposing the underlying bone-like worn-out brake pads."
I incorporate essential oils and ritual into my own personal practice. A favorite ritual of mine is to rub my muscles with Bliss Body Oil from Cannabliss Organic. This beautiful blend of Polygonum, Angelica, Ginseng, and phytocannabinoid rich Hemp oil is a wonderful pre and post yoga treatment for energizing or soothing tired muscles. Rub a nice thin layer of body bliss oil and smell the delightful herbs and essential oils as your body heats up in class.
Cheers to your good health!
