An appropriate fruit on this day of LOVE, the strawberry is one of those fruits you truly can do so much with.  As a natural foods maniac, I love a little burst of flavor especially when you’re lucky enough to eat this fruit at room temperature.  A strawberry pairs so well with an array of dishes and drinks, which ironically makes it the “perfect pair”.  

Think about it: strawberries and dark chocolate, strawberries and non-dairy whipped cream, strawberries and champagne to name a few!

I am certainly one who enjoys fresh fruit alone, juiced, tossed in salads or in beautiful breakfast bowls. Naturally, today I wanted to feature one of the sexiest fruits you can sink your teeth into.  But what about this little gem, what makes it so special beyond the juicy burst of flavor and vibrant color?

Did you know, strawberries are known to have the following health benefits:

  • Eye Health
  • Boosts Immunity
  • Aids in the treatment of Arthritis and Gout
  • Boosts Brain Function
  • Reduces Hypertension
  • Improves Heart Function
  • Reduces Inflammation

Now that's a bit of wow factor right there! The key here is to find the freshest organic strawberries you can get your hands on and incorporate them into your lifestyle whenever possible.  Some added benefits of fresh strawberries are premature aging prevention. Strawberries aid in weight loss because of its bountiful nutrients; to name a few, iron, copper, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, vitamins B6, K, E, and C, these to stimulate metabolism.   

Beyond the beauty and the health benefits this fruit is just damn good.  Here’s a little strawberry valentine recipe I like for additional body love on your sexy evening of indulgence.

Pair this spread with fresh organic strawberries and enjoy!

Lemon Basil Spread:

Ingredients:
1 cup cashews - soaked overnight
Juice and zest of ½ organic lemon (large size)
2 tsp of honey
¼ tsp of turmeric
3 large basil leaves
1 tbsp of coconut oil
1 tbsp OM Mushroom Powder - Chaga

Directions:

  • Add Cashews, Coco Oil blend in food processor
  • Add honey, lemon, basil and turmeric and OM powder

Blend until all smooth, creamy and even consistency.  This can be refrigerated for 3-4 days after prep. #protip Freeze spread and take on a hike, it will be a perfect chilled addition to your snack foods while picnicking.
